Very Overdue Update...

Hi!
Firstly, apologies for the majorly overdue update... It's been a while, I know.

As I'm sure you're probably aware, Amy and I completed the walk (on 30th August) in just under eight hours, and without sustaining any debilitating injuries (unless you count one blister each...)

Our JustGiving page closes on the 1st December, which means that it's officially closed for donations.

We've received a certificate from Arthritis Research UK, which is absolutely lovely of them!!

The big news, however, is that we've managed to raise a massive £461.12!!!!

Which is certainly a lot more than our £150 target! In fact, according to our JustGiving page, we've raised 307% of our target!

When I've got more time, which will probably be over the Christmas holidays, I'll try and post some pictures up of our walk.

So, I'd just like to say thank you to a selection of people on behalf of Amy and myself:
  • Ian Brown and Rita Sparrow (My parents) who helped to raise money, and my Mum was the first person to donate,
  • Clare and Mick McDermott (Amy's Mum and Stepdad) who gave us advice and also donated generously to our cause,
  • Trevor and Joyce Brown (My Grandparents) who raised a substantial amount of the money raised,
  • Amy's grandparents (whose walking advice proved invaluable),
  • Adrian Brown (My Uncle) who planned part of the route and did a large chunk of the walk with us (Friden to Whatstandwell),
  • Arthritis Research UK, who supported us, and genuinely took an interest in how our walk and fundraising went,
  • The volunteers at the Royal Derby Hospital (especially Bren!) who donated generously, were supportive and took an interest in the walk,
  • Prim, (Amy's dog) who did most of the walk with us (and loved every second of it!),
  • And lastly, everyone who donated! You're all lovely, and we sincerely appreciate the fact that you felt compelled to support us!
Thank you! And you never know, next year, we might be up to something else... ;)

Amy's been ill...

Hello! Apologies for neglecting this blog ever so slightly recently! We've not really got a great deal to tell you except for the following two facts:
1.) Amy's been poorly for the past week, so that's halted our already lax training routine. Not to be helped, and thankfully she's now on the mend :)
2.) We've already excelled our target!! Our justgiving page has reliably informed us that we've now got 132% of our target, and all thanks to the lovely people that have supported us so far by donating!

Amy and I have been on the phone today and, all being well, we'll be travelling to Youlgrave next weekend and probably walking from there to Matlock Bath.

Because of the fact that we've not had as much opportunity to 'train' as we originally anticipated, we did consider splitting the walk into two 9 mile walks. However, because we've already gained so much money on the pretence that we're walking the full 18 miles in one day, we came to the joint conclusion that it's probably better to stick to what we agreed. This way, we don't ruffle any feathers, and it doesn't appear as thought we're deceiving those who have already agreed to sponsor us.

We forgot to show you the T-Shirts!

Here are some pictures of the T-Shirts that we'll actually be wearing on the day!

I'm sure that we won't fade into the background too much with these on(!)

Sorry for the lack of updates!

Hi! Sorry that we've not been able to update the blog for quite a while!

In the time that's passed since our last blog we've been on several more training walks, and we've also been to London to celebrate Katie's birthday... Here are some pictures that we've taken along the way:

A healthy birthday dinner for the two of us!

We've got at least three long distance walks planned for the week ahead, so we'll let you know how they go!
